But I'm Still Hungry!

Contrary to what some people may think, I don't do "dieting." When you look up the word 'diet' in the dictionary the second definition for the word is: a special course of food to which one restricts oneself, either to lose weight or for medical reasons.

I do anything but restrict myself when I eat, and my goal is NOT weight loss! So what am I doing? I eat CLEAN! This is not some kind of diet, it is a lifestyle choice in which I choose to eliminate all processed and refined ingredients and eat only whole foods with natural ingredients. I do this not only because it is a much healthier way to eat, but I can also eat more and this ensures my foods are gluten free!

I try to eat 6 meals a day which keeps me full and gives me a lot of energy! Doing this requires continuous planning on my part to make sure the things that I am eating are the right portion size and have the right kind of nutrition. Since my goal isn't weight loss I can afford to eat up to 6 mini-meals a day. As far as hydrating, I stick with water and only water throughout the day. Though I shoot for 6 meals a day, I am usually only successful with only 5 because believe it or not, that is a lot of eating!

A typical day of eating for me looks something like this:
-Shakeology with half a frozen banana in it.
-A medium green apple with a tablespoon of Sunbutter
-A prepped meal for lunch (3 oz tilapia, asparagus, and sweet potato quinoa hash)
-Celery and hummus
-Grilled chicken spinach salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing
-Fresh popped popcorn (if I am still hungry, which by this time I'm not!)

Working out before dinner will boost my appetite and Phil and I make sure we get in a 2-3 mile walk after dinner to help us digest.

If you are interested in trying out this method of eating, be prepared to struggle a bit in the beginning. If you are not used to small meals at a time you will probably find yourself feeling hungry in between meals. My advice is to drink plenty of water, and chew some gum! Chewing gum will trick your mind into thinking you are eating and will take the focus off of your growling belly. Your body will learn to adjust and you will develop an eating routine that wont leave you feeling hungry before or after meals!

Stop limiting yourself with diets and start eating your way to better health!
